ABOUT
Southeast Texas Association of Black Journalist (SETXABJ) is a non-profit organization developed to increase and support African American journalists and prepare students to enter the nation's newsroom. We serve as mentors for young journalists and provide scholarships for aspiring journalists.
SETXABJ is committed to increasing scholarships and college recruitment, community service and awareness and professional development and training by:
- Increasing African American employment in the media.
- Providing continued professional development and training for black journalists.
- Sensitizing the media to the importance of fairness in coverage and the workplace.
- Encouraging black journalists to become entrepreneurs.
- Strengthening ties among black journalists.
- Honoring excellence and outstanding achievement by black journalists.
- Expanding job opportunities for black journalists and assisting in recruiting activities.
