Scholarship Opportunities: Scholarship Application
The goal of the Southeast Texas Association of Black Journalists scholarship is to provide assistance to Southeast Texas African-American students in their pursuit of higher education in the fields of communication and journalism.
Scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to choose to allocate their $1,000 award as payment towards attending the 2012 National Association of Black Journalists Convention in New Orleans in June 2012. Students will also have the option of applying the awarded funds to their tuition to the university/college of their choice for the fall semester of their upcoming freshman year.
Scholarships are presented to graduating high school seniors. The scholarship recipients will be named at the Southeast Texas Association of Black Journalists Luncheon to be held at the MCM Elegante Hotel on Thursday, April 5th in Beaumont, Texas.

Scholarship applicants must write a 500-word essay on the following topic. If given the opportunity today, what would be your plan of implementation to secure the job that you desire in the future?
Instructions: Complete this application form and attach your unofficial transcript, letter of recommendation and essay. No application will be considered complete without the supporting documents. Type or print legibly please. All applications must be returned to a member of the Southeast Texas Association of Black Journalists prior to the deadline.
Scholarship applications and required materials must be turned into the Lamar University Television Studio, Theatre Annex Room 113 by 5 p.m. or postmarked and mailed to SETXABJ, P.O. Box 21684, Beaumont, Texas 77720 on Monday, March 26th.
